And now a word from our sponsors!

Have you noticed that your beloved is not quite so lively as once she was?
Do you miss her witty conversation, winning smile, rosy complexion and vigorous pulse?
Are you not yet willing to give her up to the arms of Death?
Then you need Doctor Herbert West's "Reanimator Curative Compound"!!
Guaranteed to restore the vitality and vigor to the most cadaverous companion!!!

With sincere apologies to :iconlockstock:....

This is very fun and quite witty, if a bit morbid. I love it and I love the little story behind the piece. Very very well done!

Nouveau. I think that's right. It's one of those things I have to really concentrate on, like writing goggles instead of googles.

I like the combine Art Nouveau with Steampunk because its from (around) the same period whilst still being more modern. Also its good for adverts and illustration.

Nouveau huh...it may be right, but my spell checker still thinks its wrong. no wonder i can't figure it out.

I've always wanted to draw art nouveau style items, but i think my own style makes it difficult to do. do you have any advice for that? Since you do such a great job with it?

Maybe because it's French the spell check doesn't accept it if it set to English? Annoyingly its fine with Art Deco but not Art Nouveau. Maybe spell check is an art critic?

I'd say the main elements are strong confident lines, simplicity of shading, stylised elements, flowers and flowing drapery. I've spent a lot of time studying Mucha's work and have walls covered in Art Nouveau prints, the more you look at the style the more you see how its made up. Most cheap book shops have collected art books with lots of prints in them for really cheap (I buy them to cut out and frame the images). Those are good for browsing through and getting ideas or learning a new style :)

simplicity of shading? Screwwwwwwwed.......
stylised elements - give and take on that
flowers - sometimes
flowing drapery - love to do, but don't always get it right....

Why not make a project of it, once a month intentionally draw in another style than the one you usually use? I do that sometimes when I'm feeling wiped out, usually my challenge is the draw without outlines like [link] Its fun to see where you can go once you've intentionally removed an element from your usual style :)
