I'm a huge fan of the iPhone app 'Zombies, Run!' [link] As a chronic pain and fatigue sufferer anything that can make exercise bearable is wonderful, and this game actually makes me want to go out and, if not run, then walk really fast. I know that Runner 5 isn't necessarily female, since anyone playing is Runner 5, but this is what I ended up with.
I also wanted to practice using a limited colour palette. This isn't as limited as I'd like and I'll probably come back to it, but it's a start.
Model is *Kxhara the zombie hands were by `lockstock thank you ladies.
I agree with Memilen on the use of color; I think you might be able to use peaches & reddish tones, pulling from the red hair, and still have it work. I love the bold orange accents and the way you've used them not only for the lettering but for the highlights on her outfit.
As a fellow Five, I do have a question about our Runner - should she have a backpack or a satchel of some sort, given that she'd be expected to pick up supplies (even if that wasn't the overall purpose of her run)?
I like the headset; the wide headband made me think of the comm unit in the Runner's Guide.
I like the grasping hands and the way the runner is just going right past them. Clearly this is a veteran!
I do like the wee skull up at the top, though perhaps a decaying face would be more apropos?
And I love the palette overall - the bold orange and various shades of olive contrast nicely and it just WORKS.
I Love it! As a runner and as a "zombie-fan" it makes me want to tie on my shoes and go out running. It also makes me want to check out "Zombies, Run!" (But only after I read the text, before that I just thought it was a cool pic).
-Great how she looks so focused. Just like she is almost at the peak of runners high. -I would perhaps make the runner a bit more alive, she is after all not a zombie.. And it would make her pop out a little bit more from the background. Perhaps make her skin tone more vivid and lively. (That would make me want to run (from zombies) even more). -Also the angle of the headphones does not feel right.
But overall it's super! Very well composed and original!
So cool! It's kinda funny, the old Runner 5's name was Alice, mine's Allison. So close! And Runner 4 and I and Sam and I have some hobbies in common (knitting in the case of Runner 4, and playing Portal in Sam's case)
Happy to see a Zombies, Run! fan who decided to make some artwork about it! I love the colors you used and how the girl has normal-sized proportions. Also, I love the giant headphones because they look like the ones I use when I'm Runner 5! Could you do some artwork of Sam, Maxine, etc? That'd be so cool.
I love it! I typed in "runner 5" just to see if anyone had done it! Love it! And I love how they made it unisex... because I picture runner 5 as a male... lol
